About Me

From my original introductory post in Dec 2018:
I am Leia Howard, author of the Touch of Gray series. Rather than create a Facebook page, I thought I would try blogging.  My posts will be divided between promoting my series and writing process in general.  There will also be a personal post or two tossed in.  As I become a more active blogger, I may post about writing workshops, appearances, editing or publishing services, and the like.  But for now, this is my small corner of the blogsphere.

I live in Texas and am a full-time doctoral graduate student. Writing is my joy, but I do not expect to make a living from it.  This blog is not a place to advertise nor sell products, other than my own books. Thus I feel no need for a separate Disclaimer page.

Touch of Gray is an Urban Fantasy series that takes place on an alternate earth where psychics are real, can be detected by DNA tests, and seek refuge in a country that will not force them to use their powers against their will.

This blog will be mostly writing tidbits, excerpts, process, and updates. I enjoy movies, television, books, music, etc. but prefer Twitter for that. Forces me to keep my thoughts short and sweet. I am not much for pictures (despite them being worth a thousand words), thus why I am not on Insta, Snap, nor Tumblr.

There are a plethora of professional blogs about being an author, writing tips, editing books, promoting and selling your book, etc. My blog is in no way that type of site. I just like to write my observations and musings, and some may find this interesting.

TOG: Out of Touch, informational video [Updated Dec 2019]

Out of Touch, like any first book of a series, has the herculean task of setting up the world of Touch of Gray.  It must provide the rules of the world, the geography and parameters, the characters, the history, as well as the individual conflict within the book.  A book jacket or description is designed to intrigue and entice the reader, but space is too limited to provide much information. As such, I have put my incredibly poor media skills to use to create a video primer of the world.  Though I should say that this is more a podcast set to a couple of slides rather than a proper video.  Yes, I am narrating this (and there is a reason I am not a vlogger nor audio book narrator). Touch Too Much is the third book in the Touch of Gray series and is available now on Amazon Kindle . As per tradition, I've created an informational video about Touch Too Much.  It is available on my YouTube channel and embedded below .  It's also ironic that Touch Too Much is the longest book in the series but the shortest video.  As always, spoilers are included in the videos.
