Blood Song - Excerpt

Blood Song (World of Touch of Gray 2; Blood Mystic 1) will be available on Amazon Kindle November 1st, pre-order now.  Enjoy this excerpt! ************************************************************* Vic asks Jay to come to the back of the plane with her to meet with Detective Bodaway. The interior design of the plane is four rows, two seats per row, one seat on each side of the plane allowing for a small walkway between them. The cool thing is that the seats swivel, so they can all face forward, or two seats on the same row can turn 90° to face each other, or they can turn 180° forming a seating area of four front-to-front. Detective Bodaway is in the back row with an empty row in front of him, gee, with his delightful attitude, she wonders why. But his seating choice allows them to form a seating area facing one another. “Okay, we may have gotten off on the wrong foot. I’m Vic MacGillivray and this is my younger sister, Jay. We’re Blood Sages and we’ve been requested to investi

While this story is stand-alone, there are characters from previous Touch of Gray books featured in Blood Song.   Blood Song is available now for pre-order on Amazon Kindle and will be published November 1st, 2021.  The usual excerpt will be available prior to publication, and character descriptions will be made available within a few days after publication. Book Description:  Strange occurences are afoot in Council Bluffs in the Southern Plains Conservatorship.  An ancient force is stirring, tormenting the sages of Council Bluffs and hungering for blood.  The MacGillivray sibling sages have been called for assistance, and sisters Vic and Jay are dispatched to investigate. New book arriving Fall 2021

Hello, all.  I apologize for the extended hiatus from the website and social media.   As you all may be aware, I am in healthcare and the past 18 months have been challenging, to say the least.  My first year of residency began in July and I moved to a state 2,000 miles away from where I am from.  It has taken a bit for me to get my bearings, but I am settling in. In book news, I have completed writing Blood Song and it is off to the betas.  My plan is to publish it in November 2021.  The cover reveal, book description, and pre-order link will be posted in mid-September followed by an excerpt sometime in October.  I am excited to share this story set in the World of Touch of Gray with you and hope you enjoy it. As it has been over a year since I have published anything, you may need a reminder about the Touch of Gray series and the World of Touch of Gray.  Feel free to peruse this post . I will be a little more active on Twitter over the next few months and I also plan to release an e

Revised Publishing Schedule - Blog on Extended Break

Greetings.  It has been a long time since I have posted (six months) or published anything (one year). I wanted to apologize for the extended silence on my end.  I am wrapping up my final year of healthcare related grad school, and I will be entering into a post-graduate residency program beginning in June.  My current focus is studying for licensing and credentialing exams and moving 2,000 miles away to the East Coast where my residency program is located. During this past year, I have not devoted the time I need to writing nor editing and am therefore behind schedule.  I have most of Blood Song (World of Touch of Gray #2) written, I just need to add about 3,000 more words of story, then begin the editing process.  I am half-way through with writing Keep in Touch (Touch of Gray, Book Four).  My plan this year is to complete writing and editing Blood Song with hopes to publish late 2021.  Then I will see where I stand with Keep in Touch, it will either be published in 2022 or early 202

Out of Touch , the first book in the Touch of Gray (TOG) series, establishes the main character Gray Graham.  It touches on the history of the world and why she relocated to another country.  It also delves into Psycepts (those with psychic perception), Gray's touch clairvoyant capabilities, and consulting on police cases.  Several peripheral characters are introduced like the police she works with, her employees at her agency, and some of her friends.  The central conflict is a mysterious border incursion and what it means to her adopted country and the Psycepts that live there.  Amazon Kindle and Google Books The second book in the series, Invisible Touch , expands Gray's world.  We learned a little more about other Psycepts including Gray's siblings, PsyWitch Wendy, and The Sisters Wyrd and Brother Bone (aka Blood and Bone Sages).  We also dive into the world of Psycepts living in Albuquerque and got an inkling of the difference between conservatorships (the

Writing Corner: How I Write - Keeping Track of Multiple Books Across a World

When writing multiple series set in one world, keeping track of details can become difficult, especially if the main characters in one series are secondary characters in another.  My process for keeping track of events, timeline, characteristics, and conversations is old school. Basically, I open all of my previous books as pdfs (easy to toggle to and not so easy to accidentally type over).  I have a rough idea of which book holds which details, so I can quickly flip to the pdf and search for a word or phrase and reread the passage.   I also keep a written world bible filled with characters in each book and their relation to main characters and each other.  Did I meet a police officer from such-and-such, can I use them again in later books?  What about mentions of friends and family members?  Places that characters grew up?  Etc. For instance, I have several police characters that my main character in Touch of Gray interacts with in the first book.  I had a vague idea that I would revi

TOG: Touch Too Much, Chapter 2 Narration

Another tradition is posting a chapter narration of my Touch of Gray series.  I am the narrator and I try to be not-horrible. For Touch Too Much (TOG - Book Three, available on Amazon Kindle ), I've selected the second chapter as it provides the most background in a single chapter.  Part one involves 'world-building exposition' which is always fun to do (😣) and the second part gets into planning for the upcoming Psycept Shindig .  Enjoy! Warning, the first part ends with no 'endcap' telling you it's finished.  And the second part has no 'beginning', it goes right into the story'.  Also, the background info displayed is different between the two parts.  Finally, this will be my last post for a month.  I'll return in mid-June with another 'Writing Corner' post along with other items.  Feel free to check out my Twitter ( @AuthorLeia ) in the meantime.  I'll publish a podcast episode at the end of this month with li

TOG: Touch Too Much, informational video

Touch Too Much is the third book in the Touch of Gray series and is available now on Amazon Kindle . As per tradition, I've created an informational video about Touch Too Much.  It is available on my YouTube channel and embedded below .  It's also ironic that Touch Too Much is the longest book in the series but the shortest video.  As always, spoilers are included in the videos. In other news, the most recent episode of 'An Indie Author's Life' podcast is now available.  Enjoy! ******************************************************************** Previous books in the series are available in an eBook Bundle on Amazon Kindle and individually below.
